The Goji berry grows in many valleys of the Himalayan mountains. It is found in most countries in that area and thrives in one of the harshest climates on Earth. It's latin name is lyceum barbarum, and while it can be grown around the world, only the climate and soils of this region impart the specific qualities that have made it famous.
Ancient (4000 year old) parchments extol its virtues as a food, where it has been eaten or brewed as a tea or soup for centuries. During the 1800's many expeditions of scientists set out for the region to find 'Shangri-La' and to try and discover the reason for the health and longevity of the people who live there. The Hunza are one of the most documented, living well into their 90's and over 100 years with few if any illnesses.
Much has been made of the mineral rich glacial melt used for irrigation; the lack of western style culture and the simplicity of their diet but few suspected that a small insignificant berry could be responsible.
It was the work of Dr Earl Mindell and advice from a Chinese herbalist that led to the molecular breakdown of one specific berry variety and the discovery of it's properties.
It took Dr Mindell many years to properly analyse every molecule (with the added discovery of 4 previously unknown proteaglycan molecules) before he was convinced he had found the original genus of berry famed throughout history.
Every bottle now carries this spectral signature as a guarantee of it's authenticity. Whilst there are numerous other Goji products on sale, only Himalayan Goji juice with its signature can be guaranteed as the historic product.
